LETTERS is an original musical by Neil Rutherford based on the correspondence between his nan and grandfather during their separation in World War II.

The production premiered in 1988, with Neil in the role of Tom, and was sponsored by Sir Cameron Mackintosh. Following the Original Soundtrack Recording, two further productions were produced.

As Tom returns to the front in France, following a weeks leave, Maggie discovers that she is pregnant with their first child.

As the enemy forces close in on the front, and London is hit by the Blitz, can the young couple share their true feelings in their correspondence, and will Tom meet his young son.
